Community Services

Helping individuals with disabilities live safely, independently, and with dignity.

Host Homes

A Host Home is a private residence where an unrelated caregiver opens up their home to provide housing, meals, assistance, and supervision to an adult with a developmental disability. Essentially, the caregiver becomes a blended family while providing 24-hour support to the individual living in their home.

One of the key components of Host Home is an emphasis on skill acquisition. Individuals are encouraged and given opportunities to improve in areas such as activities of daily living, health and wellness, money management, self-advocacy, and community engagement.

Our Host Home program begins with ensuring that the individual receiving services, the caregiver(s), and the location are a good match. We look at an individual’s interests, personality, and goals, as well as the caregiver’s ability and means to support them in these areas. All caregivers and adult members living in a Host Home must undergo an extensive background check and be approved by our agency before providing these services. Caregivers are provided with regular training, and bi-monthly check-ins are also implemented to ensure the safety of participants.

In-Home Personal Assistant

WCP understands that caring for a loved one with a developmental disability can sometimes be challenging. When ISL or Host Home is not an option or a good fit, In-Home Services can be utilized to help individuals become more independent and live successfully in their natural homes, while also providing much-needed support to families or guardians.

Our In-Home service provides a trained staff member, called a Personal Assistant (P.A.), who will come to an individual’s natural home and assist the individual with acquiring skills that lead to independence in areas such as self-care, life skills, health and wellness, social skills, and community engagement. All transportation is provided by WCP and can include community trips and outings. Hours and days of support vary according to the specific needs of each person and their families.
